As London continues to be recognised as of burgeoning importance in the world art market, many powerful art galleries have relocated or opened new premises in Mayfair, one of the city’s smartest and most expensive addresses.
Milan based gallery Massimo De Carlo wanted to add to it’s international clientel with a new site in Mayfair’s South Audley Street, and sought an established specialist contractor capable of realising it’s presence on the London art scene.
The site, previously a residential letting agents with mulitiple offices, needed to be reconfigured to enable the space to work as a prestigious art gallery.
Fileturn undertook major structural work to open up and lower the floor level in the basement, constructing and installing a skylight to the exhibition space. A new insulated power floated concrete floor was laid.
The reconfigured ground floor was refurbished and oak flooring laid throughout.
A new air conditioning system and complete electrical installation with multiple circuits to offer mood and feature lighting was installed.
The work had to be carried out in two phases to allow for the opening exhibition to take place.
