Crowne Plaza Chester

The popular Crowne Plaza hotel is a prominent contemporary building set within the historic walls of Chester, one in a portfolio of hotels operated by QMH UK.

Fileturn was appointed to refurbish the public areas having successfully completed works at another QMH site, the Holiday Inn at Stratford-upon-Avon.

As with most operational hotel sites, refurbishment was carried out in two phases to limit disruption.

The restaurant, bar, lounge and lift lobby were stripped out, with the existing ceilings left in place. A new feature island bar, walk-in fully glazed wine store and a full height curved glass sliding screen enclosing the serving area were installed.

The lower ground floor entrance lobby and staircase were part of the second phase of works. A new 7 metre high feature wall in relief panels with concealed LED lighting was formed in the reception.

The most delicate operation was the removal of two 3.5 metre high chandeliers that had to be dismantled to allow for a more contemporary lighting installation.

Fileturn worked in close partnership with hotel management and staff to achieve a high level of success for all involved in a tight timescale.
