ibis London Excel Docklands

Following the successful completion of the UK’s first Pullman Hotel for Accor, Fileturn were appointed to carry out the public area refurbishment of the Ibis Hotel ExCel; the new design scheme is the first in the UK and will be rolled out throughout the Ibis brand.

The fit-out of the public areas was carried out over two phases, with the challenge of keeping the hotel operational and ensuring access for the guests. This necessitated a temporary entrance and reception for the first phase of works.

A major part of the project was to reconfigure the entrance lobby to provide more space in the reception area for guests checking in. This included the provision of new reception desks and bespoke panelling to the walls.

The back of house offices and luggage room were re-formed and bought into the public space. All the M&E services were repositioned to accommodate the new layout.

New ceilings and lighting were installed throughout, and Fileturn’s experienced craftsmen installed wall panelling and specialist decorative floor finishes. Alterations were made to the air conditioning, with new grilles and relocating units where necessary.

The public toilets were refurbished including new ceilings, tiling, flooring and sanitary ware. The Fileturn team ensured that the hotel remained fully operational, close liaison with the client and hotel management resulted in minimal disruption.
