The Boundary, Shoreditch

Fileturn were commissioned to turn the ground floor, which was previously the Albion Café, into an all day bar and brasserie providing locals and visitors with a new East London hangout for all occasions.

Firstly the wall between the restaurant and the hotel reception was taken down to create a more free flowing space. A bespoke 20m zinc top bar with marble inlay, designed by Mehrai Design, gave a new focus to the space and cleverly transforms at one end to become the reception area for the hotel. Behind the bar there is a lit, mirrored back bar featuring just some of the bespoke joinery created by Fileturn for the scheme. We also produced waiter stations, tables, cutlery drawers and open shelving.

Fileturn were responsible for creating the new bar, the mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations, a double hoist from the basement kitchen to the ground floor and all finishes including specialist Behr paint, Hessian wall papering on the ceiling of the private dining room and re-sanding and staining the timber floor.

The hotel remained open during the course of the project, as Fileturn built a moveable wall which enabled work to carry on with minimal disruption to guests staying at the hotel.
